![]() The Money Order Office was built in 1890 as an extension to the GPO opposite, to house the Money Order facilities. From 1933 to 1970 it housed Federal Parliamentarians including Prime Minister R.G. Menzies and J.B. Chifley. This basement was the document storage room with filling cabinets occupying the booths. Filled with antiques and artefacts collected world wide, it is very Melbourne in style. It reflects our rich culinary and cultural history. The grills from a Spanish monastery, the Argentinean and French parquetry and the worlds largest collection of Pierre Paulin lamps (c 1950) sit very easily next to the solid marble Roman bath and font. M.O.O. is historical and yet timeless... Voted Australian Wine Bar of the Year in its first year, MOO occupies the basement of the old Money Order Office (hence MOO) which was built at about the same time as its sister building, the GPO (c1886). Enjoy an amazing cocktail at the MOO bar or a snack from the succulent bar grazing menu and you'll soon be saying ..." see you at MOO".
